FMG Mainline Upgrade

The Mainline Upgrade projects relate to rail infrastructure expansion works from Port Hedland in the North to Christmas Creek in the Southeast. This upgrade includes partial duplication of the existing railway lines as well as the expansion of the Principal's workshop facilities, access and service roads and supporting infrastructure.

Brierty were contracted to complete the construction of rail formation widening's and improvements at Hillside, Gibb, Summit North, Summit South, Cloudbreak, and Christmas Creek locations.  

The rail formation construction includes the following works:

  • Bulk earthworks;
  • Haul road and rail maintenance track (RMT) construction;
  • RMT road alignment;
  • Installation of CSP culverts;  and
  • Drill and blast operations adjacent to the live rail line and access track.
