The project comprised the upgrade of the access road to the Karara Iron Ore Project in WA's Midwest region.
The contract scope involved upgrading 52 kilometres of road from Morawa to Karara including widening and overlay, and stabilisation of floodways.
The works included:
- Bulk earthworks;
- Pavement construction / stabilization;
- Culverts and drainage structures;
- Road formation;
- Traffic management; and
- Institu / precast concrete structures (minor)
The team were responsible for working under live traffic environment whilst maintaining public and construction traffic flows- circa 5000 vehicle movement per day including oversize vehicle coordination. The Access Road Upgrade had been designed in accordance with the Main Roads WA standards of rural roads.
