Located at Port Hedland, works on the project commenced in July 2008 and involves the construction of reclamation bunds to hold dredged material, construction of the earthwork foundations for stacker and reclaimer infrastructure and general miscellaneous earthworks required to manage the facility.

The works involve the management of approximately 30 pieces of plant made up of scrapers, articulated dump trucks, excavators and ancillary equipment.   The workforce consists of approximately 50 operators and 8 staff.

The works comprise of:

  • Construction of internal bunds to existing settlement areas;
  • Construction of new bunds;
  • Relocation of dredge fill for new stockpile area;
  • Construction of the stacker and reclaimer berms; and
  • The widening of the causeway

This major earthworks project represents a continuation of Brierty’s relationship with FMG, with Brierty previously having constructed 90km of formation earthworks on the FMG Rail project and to undertake the stripping of overburden at the Cloudbreak iron ore mine in the Pilbara.
