Construction of the Stage 2 downstream raising of the perimeter embankment associated with Tailings Storage Facility 7 located at Newcrest’s Telfer Gold Mine.
Construction involves the raising of the circular perimeter embankments by 5m from its current crest level of RL5495.0m to a maximum crest level of RL5500.0m.
TSF7 is surrounded by a large mine waste dump, with the works involving the placement and compaction of an inner annulus formed around the inside of the waste dump. Construction was undertaken on the existing crest (Stage 1) and will be laid back against the adjacent mine waste dump.
