Leach / Orrong Road Intersection Upgrade

E-mail

Client John Holland leach
Location Perth, WA
Start Date January 2006
End Date March 2007
Value $17 million

Brierty was subcontracted to John Holland to undertake the civil works for this R5 category project.

The work scope included:

  • New on and off ramps either side of the bridge
  • New traffic signals where the on and off ramps intersect with Orrong Road
  • Widening of Orrong Road between Kew Street and Division Street to accommodate turning lanes for the bridge piers, which will be located in the Orrong Road median
  • Upgrading of Leach Highway with safety barriers along the new works
  • Construction of noise walls along the road reserve boundary in the Kewdale corner of the interchange

There are over 80,000 vehicles a day using the intersection, with long delays experienced for traffic passing through the intersection.

The new interchange will improve traffic flow, reduce journey times and make the intersection much safer.
