Our Management Team

Peter McBain, Managing Director
Peter commenced in March 2011 and was appointed Managing Director in November 2011. He has 20 years experience and knowledge in the civil infrastructure construction and mining sectors from both a contractor and client’s perspective.
Most recently, Peter was General Manager – Development for the Gindalbie Metals’ Karara Mining Project. Previously Peter held general management roles at NRW and HWE Mining overseeing projects for clients including BHP Billiton, Fortescue Metals Group, Rio Tinto, Portman and Main Roads WA.
His highly valued experience and unique mix set of skills is a great asset for Brierty’s growth strategy.

Tony Bevan, Chief Financial Officer / Company Secretary
Tony joined Brierty in April 2008 with 20 plus years experience in chartered accounting firms. With 13 years as a senior partner, he specialised in a number of disciplines including audit, tax and corporate finance.
He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and current WA Chairman of Council. He is also a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Mike Sloan, General Manager: Urban Infrastructure
Mike has gained nearly 30 years experience in the civil engineering and construction industry in Australia. Commencing as an engineer, Mike built his expert knowledge through hands-on experience in civil design, project management, estimating, and contract management.
Mike's diversity of experience enables him to provide valuable commercial support and advice to both Brierty's estimating and operational team members.
Mike is actively involved in developing and maintaining strong customer and supplier relationships.

Struan Collins, General Manager: Civil
Struan joined Brierty in November 2011, bringing with him more than 17 years of management and project-based experience in the construction industry.
Most recently, Struan was Queensland Manager for Transport and Infrastructure at Baulderstone, where he was responsible for road, rail, airport and bridge projects.
With a strong technical construction knowledge and significant project experience, Struan is highly skilled in all aspects of project management including pre and post-contract negotiations, client liaison, occupational health and safety, project delivery, and industrial relations.
Struan is responsible for managing Brierty’s Civil Division which includes the successful delivery of projects as well as strategic decision making impacting upon the direction and success of the Division overall.

Mark Braghieri, General Manager: Mining
Mark brings more than 20 years of experience in the mining industry from a range of open pit and underground operations at various mineral processing and fixed plant operations.
Mark has worked in senior management positions for a number of major mining contractors and owner-miners. He brings considerable experience, including business improvement, contract management, resource allocation and planning, and client relationship management within an environment of bottom-line accountability.
Mark is accountable for managing Brierty’s mining business, which includes contract mining and the provision of mining services. He is focussed on business planning to deliver sustainable growth, and operational improvements to deliver improved productivity.

Domenic Cappelluti, General Manager: Plant & Procurement
Domenic has 14 years experience in plant management gained from more than 30 years in the industry. He is a plant asset and maintenance professional having worked in the civil and mining industry in Australia and overseas.
Domenic has actively contributed towards business improvements within Brierty which has supported improved fleet management including fleet selection, fleet optimisation, fleet disposal and seen better financial outcomes for Brierty’s plant department.
Domenic is involved in implementing ongoing improvements to enhance proven maintenance management processes that lead to greater reliability throughout the life of each plant asset.

Daniel Humphreys, Manager: Human Resources
Daniel has honed his expertise in HR and recruitment, having spent the last 8 years working for some of the leading construction companies in the industry.
Daniel is well educated in Human Resources and Industrial Relations and has proven experience in managing the Human Resources function for significant workforces across multiple Project locations throughout Australia. He has demonstrated expertise in Recruitment and Selection, Industrial Relations, Learning and Development, Industrial Agreement Implementation, Talent Management, Dispute Resolution, Client Relationships, and Strategic Planning, among many others.
As HR Manager at Brierty, Daniel is responsible for the organisation and implementation of all Human Resources and Industrial Relations functions within the business.

Phil Paul, Indigenous Engagement Coordinator
Phil has extensive experience and expertise in providing workplace relations advice and assistance with comprehensive knowledge of industrial relations legislation, agreements, awards, industrial instruments and statutory requirements.
Aside from industrial relations, Phil is responsible for implementing Brierty's Aboriginal Engagement Strategy, which includes working closely with organisations that seek to improve the employment opportunities for Aboriginal people.

Ben Bryan, Manager: Corporate HSEQ
Ben has over 10 years experience in workplace health and safety having worked at a number of successful construction companies both in Australia and overseas.
Most recently Ben held the position of HSE Manager at Ertech where his responsibilities included overseeing up to 20 HSE Advisors on multiple sites for clients such as Chevron, BHP Billiton, and Rio Tinto. He brings considerable experience in developing and implementing HSE systems, procedures, and management plans to comply with high industry standards.
As HSEQ Manager at Brierty, Ben is responsible for Health and Safety, Environmental, and Quality matters across all business units and project sites.
